Cases | State v. Salmon, 140 N.C. App. 567, 537 S.E.2d 829 (N.C. Ct. App. 2000) | 2018
The defendant was convicted of second degree murder. The trial court imposed a civil judgment on the defendant in the amount of $11,000 to cover the victim’s funeral expenses. The appellate court vacated the restitution order because the crime was committed before the effective date of the statute mandating restitution.
