Cases | Jones v. State, 10 S.W.3d 449 (Ark. 2000) | 2018
The defendant was convicted on three counts of capital murder. He appealed, arguing, among other things, that the introduction of victim impact evidence was reversible error. The Supreme Court of Arkansas affirmed, noting that it has repeatedly upheld the constitutionality of the Arkansas statute that specifically allows the State to introduce victim impact evidence during the sentencing phase of capital murder trials. Since the defendant failed to provide a compelling reason why the Court should reconsider its prior rulings on the admission of victim impact evidence, the Court affirmed.
