Any relief granted by the order of protection, other than judgment for costs, shall be for a fixed period not to exceed one year. The order may be extended at one year intervals, as many times as necessary, to protect the Elder of Vulnerable Adult. The extension may only be granted after a party, designated in KLOC 27-12.02(1), files a petition seeking an extension, provides notice as outlined in KLOC 27-12.05, and a hearing is held. The petition for extension must be filed within the three months before the order expires.
