Financial exploitation of Kalispel Elders and Vulnerable Adults is of great concern to the Tribe. Interventions should protect the Elder or Vulnerable Adult, while still being respectful of his or her values and culture. In addition, interventions should be tailored to the specific needs of the Elder or Vulnerable Adult, taking into consideration his or her abilities and deficits. Intervention measures such as referring the Elder or Vulnerable Adult to a representative payee service, creating a trust, or establishing a power of attorney should be considered if an Elder and Vulnerable Adult Protection Order or Adult Guardianship are not appropriate or would not meet the needs of the Elder or Vulnerable Adult.
