Whenever a child is brought to a medical facility within the boundaries of the Colorado River Indian Reservation for medical treatment and the child appears to have been injured by other than accidental means the child may be admitted to such medical facility for further observation and examination. A physician acting pursuant to this Section shall have the authority to admit, detain, or hold the child, without the consent of the parent, guardian or custodian, for up to fortyeight (48) hours, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The admitting physician shall contact a Probation Officer immediately upon such admission. Department of Health and Social Services Workers and Tribal law enforcement officials shall assist the admitting physician in carrying out the provisions of this if necessary.
